Kim Muscroft-McDonnel

      Owner/Director of REAL Consulting Family & Business Counselling, Coaching, & Mediation Services in High River since 2002.

      Born in Canada and educated in Scotland, Kim began working with youth in 1987 and has over 30 years professional experience in counselling and mediation.

      Kim qualified in Scotland with a degree in Community Education and is a certified Counsellor, Coach, Trainer, Literacy Tutor, and Social Care Provider, and is a Registered Family and Separation/Divorce Negotiator/Coach Mediator. Kim continues her education and training annually.

      Kim has four children and five grandchildren.

Background

             In 1987 there was no youth group at the church Kim was attending. For Kim, this was the beginning of what would become a passion for working with young people. Over the next 30 years, Kim completed her degree and varied education programs/registrations/certifications, worked in groups homes, on the streets, in the Criminal Justice System, in youth facilities, in youth camps, in schools, and provided care, assistance, direction, and understanding to many young people and their families. In this capacity, many of the young people Kim encountered were experiencing a myriad of issues and challenges, not the least of which were social, economical, educational, and cognitive struggles.  In addition, Kim also experienced the challenge and joy of raising a child with cognitive challenges herself.

                 Kim is registered with Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and facilitates counselling, therapy, and mediation with children/youth and their families. Kim’s private practice offers counselling, coaching, and mediation to support individuals, couples, and families to reconnect, resolve their issues, and have healthy relationships.
